In 2023, the silos constructed between 1958 and 1963 for the former steam mill were demolished at the site currently housing Åbo Akademi’s Academill campus. As the silos were structurally connected to Academill, parts of the historic brick façade were damaged during the demolition. The aim of the project was to restore the façade in order to preserve the building’s historical value and architectural character, while also enhancing its appearance as a prominent feature along Vaasa’s shoreline and cityscape.
