The bilingual service centre Majakka is situated at Brändö in Vasa and the centre offers work and daily activities for persons with developmental disorder or autism who has finished school. The purpose of the service centre is to support the client’s functional capacity and find meaningful and stimulating activities for each person. In the building there is for example workshop spaces for wood and handcrafts, teaching kitchens and spaces for creativity.

The starting point of the planning was a carefully designed room program and preplanning and the planning process it self included close cooperation with the users to be able take all different groups of users into consideration and also their specific needs for accessibility. The goal was to create an functional and pleasant building where future maintenance costs are taken into account.
